DAY 1 SESSION 1 Sat, March 27, 10am – 2pm(MARCH CLASS REGISTRATION CLOSED) Instructor Matthew Corozine "A REVIEW YOUR MEISNER TECHNIQUE" Sanford Meisner was both an actor and a teacher of acting through out most of the twentieth century. He was a founding member of the Group Theater in New York and taught such prominent actors as Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Steve McQueen, Grace Kelly, Gregory Peck, Joanne Woodward, and Allison Janney, Mary Steenburgen at the Neighborhood Playhouse for fifty years. The objective is to remain in the moment. The Meisner technique is one of the most famous, and is taught in schools around the world. “Meisner Technique” was developed to get actors to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” Have A Monologue Prepared A monologue is an excerpt of a longer piece written for stage or screen. For audition purposes, you should select monologues that run 1-2 minutes in length. Typically you should have one or two classical (pre-20th century) and contemporary (20th century) monologues prepared. This way, you have flexibility in your material and can alternate them to keep auditions fresh. We Will Distribute Scene Sides To you for Filming Your REELPrepare for each scene as if you are training for a comprehensive production. Often, you'll learn new techniques (which is the point of your instructor giving you this scene in the first place). Any new skills that you are taught in class should be implemented immediately.During presentation of scenes, stay open to direction from your instructor. The instructor may be trying to teach you a new angle or break you of a habit you're not aware of. Remember that everything you learn in our intensive is designed to make you stronger as an actor and to create your best REEL.An actor’s reel can be the most useful marketing tool for a performer. Much more effective than just a head shot and resume, a reel shows the industry where your talents lie, and what you bring to the table. DAY 1 SESSION 2 Sat, March 27, 3pm – 7pm Instructors Filmmaker Brian Ferraro & Legit Talent Agent Lisa Price "On Camera Techniques/Auditioning To Get The Job" It is common for actors to think there is a fundamental difference, in terms of acting methods, between theater, film and television. This is untrue. What is different between the mediums is only technical and practical.
Film acting is much closer to reality. Because the "audience" is now the camera (and eventually those watching what the camera captures), the acting style is much more intimate. There is no need to project your voice, as film sets are equipped with sensitive sound recording devices. Cameras are able to zoom in to capture the slightest eyebrow flinch, so much less is required of the body n terms of large sweeping movements to relay a point.
Our on-camera acting classes are technical and rehearsal-driven. You will learn easily taught technical realities about working on-camera, and you practice them.
DAY 2 SESSION 1 Sun, March 28, 12pm – 4pm Instructors Filmmaker Brian Ferraro & Legit Talent Agent Lisa Price "FILM ACTING: CREATING YOUR DEMO REEL IN CLASS" Dress, Block, Cut, Tape~Ever wondered how to audition or work on camera? Where exactly should you look, how much can you move, how loud should you be? And if you are experienced, what can you do to book more? We do in-depth preparation of your monologue & scene, then put you on camera.
CALL BACK Lastly you will get a Call Back with your instructors & delivery of your DVD REEL. ACTOR REELS>A FASTER TRACK FOR BEING DISCOVERED Having a DVD-reel shows professionalism and serious approach and make the work of casting directors easy. An actor’s reel can be the most useful marketing tool for a performer. Much more effective than just a head shot and resume, a reel shows the industry where your talents lie, and what you bring to the table. The one-minute reel is becoming more popular. Casting directors usually know within the first 60 seconds how they would cast you. With our help and expertise, we can put your best work upfront. We can showcase the best you have to offer. A solid demo reel is one of the most vital marketing tools that an actor can have to get consistent work in television, commercials, and film.
